Cumbrian rugby union enthusiasts – players, officials or supporters – starved of their favourite pastime for over a month have the chance to see some outstanding action as way of compensation.

With most rugby across the region cancelled over the past month due to the weather conditions, Sale Sharks would like to offer the chance for people to supporting their north west club in the Heineken Cup.

They are putting on a special offer on tickets for Sunday 24th January which will be the most important Sharks’ match played in the north west since the Guinness Premiership semi-final victory over Wasps in 2006. 

Sharks play host to the aristocrats of European rugby, Stade Toulousain, in their final Heineken Cup pool match of the season.  Kick-off at 3PM.  Both sides need to win to earn themselves a place in the Heineken Cup Quarter Finals.

Any member of a north west rugby club can purchase tickets for seats in the covered Printerland.co.uk Stand or DLA Piper Stand at the discounted rate of £19 Adults and £6 Juniors (under 16).  This will save £7 off the adult match day prices and £3 off the junior prices. 

The question of who will finish top of this Heineken Cup group will most certainly remain unanswered until the 80th minute and the final whistle against Toulouse. 

Currently in second place, Sharks are certainly in contention to finish the pool as group winners, but they will have to defeat Toulouse, the most decorated side in European rugby history, on Syunday at Edgeley Park in order to qualify for the Heineken Cup quarter finals. 

Tickets are selling quickly and North West rugby supporters are expected to be out in full voice to support their team in the Heineken Cup against the great Toulouse club expected to feature an entire back line of French internationals with some spare on the bench. 

But Sharks’ have a squad of north west class capable of upsetting Toulouse’s European plans with the likes of Mark Cueto, Charlie Hodgson and youngsters James Gaskell and Carl Fearns really finding their form this season.
