CliveListerStandThe third season of summer individual matches in the West Cumbria Snooker League got underway this month, writes GREEN BAIZE.

It follows several weeks break at the end of another successful West Cumbria Individual Snooker Championships which was won in the final week of the campaign by Copeland’s Robert Sim.

Last year’s summer league title was also won by Sim and also took the summer league singles knockout title defeating Workington's Clive Lister. This forthcoming season sees the singles knockout sponsored by Workington based MT Cleaning Services Ltd.

In the top division Workington's Clive Lister (pictured) got off to a flyer when taking on Maryport's Mike Park.

He claimed the opening frame despite a 37 break from Park, who then levelled the match with a frame-winning 64 break before Lister took the final two frames for a useful 3-1 victory.

Workington's John Street players Mark Tunstall and Steven O'Hagan were up against each other in their first fixture.

Despite O'Hagan taking the opening frame it was Tunstall who came through as the 3-1 winner.

Newcomer Richard Nelson of Clifton got off to the perfect premier appearance when taking on Workington's Dave Chapman.

Despite a brief rally by Chapman to pull the match back to 1-1 Nelson ended up the 3-1 winner. There were no other division one results at the time of writing.

In Division Two Whitehaven's Ryan Henry got off to the ideal start as he recorded a 4-0 win with the help of a 30 break in the opening frame against Maryport's Sean Moore.

Newcomers Chris D'Leny and Tom Mattinson, both of Keswick's Derwent Club, battled out in their first ever summer league match.

D'Leny ended up the 4-0 winner for a perfect start to the season although Mattinson put up dogged resistance in the final two frames.

Craig Denwood shared the spoils with Clifton newcomer Gary Mattinson despite an early 2-0 lead by the Maryport player.
There were no other Division Two results at the time of writing.
