Alan Moore now only requires two frames from his last three matches to secure second place in the top division of the West Cumbria summer singles league.

The former county champion had a comfortable 4-0 win over Workington's Barry Collins last week and followed this up with a 3-1 win over Maryport's Mike Park.

Moore had the help of a 30 break in the opening frame and although Park pulled the match back all square Moore won the final two frames of the evening.

Collins fared better against Workington's Dave Chapman. Despite Chapman compiling a 31 break to take the opening frame, Collins battled back to take the match 3-1 and move into fourth place overtaking Park on points difference.

DaveChapmanActionChapman (pictured alongside) had been showing encouraging form of late and he took on third placed Ryan Ismay of Maryport still hoping to survive in the top flight.

Chapman took the opening two frames, including a 34 break in the first, before Ismay showed why he is in third place by getting stronger as the match progressed. He took the final two frames for a 2-2 draw.

But these were two vital points in Chapman's battle for first division survival.

In the second division Whitehaven's Ryan Henry climbed into mid-table with a 4-0 win over Seaton's Shaun Moore after a tight first frame.

Henry then went on to defeat second-placed Alex Chiesa of Cleator Moor, going 3-0 up before Chiesa pulled back a consolation frame. Chiesa reversed that result when he took on Moore going on to win 3-1by taking the last two frames.

Workington's Mark Johnson consolidated his lead in the division with a 3-1 win over Maryport's Craig Denwood who took a vital final frame to edge above Moore and is now third bottom.

Workington's Clive Lister, from division one, overcame Ryan Henry of division two 76-7 in the first frame, including a break of 30 and by 35-30 in an unusually low scoring second frame for a 2-0 win.

He now goes on to play away to Maryport's Richard Lewthwaite in the quarter finals of the singles knockout.

The quarter-finals require completion by no later than Sunday, September 28.
