The last eight of the new summer singles knockout competition has been drawn with one previous round tie to be completed by Sunday, September 7.

Maryport's young cueist Ryan Ismay disposed of fellow Maryport youngster Shane Kane 48-31, 60-15 for a 2-0 passage into the quarter-finals.

The full quarter final draw is: A. Chiesa (Marchon) v B. Collins (Railway); R. Sim (Marchon) v R. Ismay (Maryport Soc.); R. Lewthwaite (Glasson) v C. Lister (Station Rd) or R. Henry (Marchon); P. Mostyn (Seaton) v C. Denwood (Glasson).

The draw was made by Dave Chapman and Mike Park on Tuesday August 26 in the Workington Conservative Club. All ties up to the semi-finals are best of three frames and the closing date for completion is Sunday, September 28th.

In the league Workington's Alan Moore consolidated his second place in the top flight with a 2-2 draw against his nearest rival Ryan Ismay.

Moore took the opening frame comfortably before Ismay battled back to take the second with the help of a 31 break.

The former county champion replied with a comfortable third for a 2-1 lead only for the Maryport youngster to snatch the final frame.

Ismay also ground out a 2-2 draw with Seaton's Paul Mostyn after comfortably taking the first frame of the evening and just scraping through to take the second.

Mostyn battled back to take a comfortable third frame and a black-ball fourth to share the spoils.

However, Mostyn fared less well against Workington's Barry Collins going down by three frames to one from 1-1 in a tight match.

Mostyn remains mid-table whilst there is plenty of daylight between Collins and the bottom two as he has managed to haul himself into the mid-table places of late.

The only other first division fixture saw Maryport's Mike Park consolidate his fourth place position after taking a comfortable opening frame against Workington's Dave Chapman.

Then Chapman hit back in the second to make it 1-1 before Park landed comfortable wins in the third and fourth frames for a 3-1 success.

Chapman remains second bottom in a straight scrap for first division survival with Workington's Clive Lister.

Division two saw a bit of a shock result when long time leader Mark Johnson of Workington went down 3-1 to mid-table player Paul Johnston, also from Workington. Johnston came back from 1-0 down to gain a valuable win.

Johnston appears to have come into a little bit of form lately as he also disposed of Seaton's Shaun Moore by the same score-line once again from being 1-0 down.

He also managed a 2-2 draw when up against Shane Kane when fighting back from 1-0 and 2-1 behind. Those recent results have pushed Johnston into a comfortable mid-table position.

Kane had a useful 4-0 win over Moore to keep himself in with a chance of a promotion place, but could only draw with Cleator Moor's John Madine after being 1-0 and 2-1 behind.

Madine consolidated his third place with a 4-0 victory over Maryport's Richard Lewthwaite.
