The third season of summer individuals snooker in the West Cumbria Snooker League is to get underway next month, writes GREEN BAIZE.

It follows several weeks break at the end of another successful West Cumbria Individual Snooker Championships.

It was won in the final week of the campaign by Copeland’s Robert Sim with Allerdale’s Peter O’Hagan taking the runner-up place after winning the championship the previous year.

Maryport young cueist Ryan Ismay earned promotion to the top tier taking the first division title and was joined by Workington's Steven Buchanan.

Last years summer league title was also won by Sim where he also took the premier league singles knockout title defeating Workington's Clive Lister.

Meanwhile Workington's Mark Johnson earned himself a top flight place in this summer’s league by taking the second division title and is joined by Whitehaven's Alex Chiesa.

This summer’s league sees the same format as last season with matches the best of four frames instead of five with one league point awarded per frame won and all entry fees will be paid out as prize-money including highest breaks and aggregates in all divisions.

This forthcoming season sees the singles knockout sponsored by Workington based MT Cleaning Services Ltd with the league hoping to obtain a main sponsor by the start of the new summer season.

The West Cumbria Snooker League are also looking into the possibility of bringing a qualified coach to the area for the benefit of it's league members to help put them on the right track to more enjoyable and successful snooker participation.

The tournament is open to all players with a home venue within the Allerdale & Copeland districts and is still only £10 to enter.
