The Beatles - Eleanor Rigby (1966)

As we've reported in our general news section Eleanor Rigby is very much in the headlines - and she could help a Cumbrian charity.

A pay slip for a certain Miss E Rigby is to be auctioned off at the end of the month in London and there are high hopes that it could make as much as £500,000 which will go to the very special Sunbeams Trust.

The song was primarily written by Paul McCartney, although in an interview conducted with Playboy magazine in 1980 shortly before he died, John Lennon claimed that, at McCartney's request, he completed the lyrics to the second and third verse.

Whatever, it was Sir Paul who sent the old document to Annie Mawson, founder of the Sunbeams Trust and which is being auctioned on November 27 along with other pop memorabilia.

You can catch up on the full story in our general news section.
