WORKINGTON REDS - Billy Watson & Bill Shankly

I stumbled on this while looking on You Tube and realised it must have been shot when the great Liverpool manager was back at Borough Park for the naming of the Shankly Bar in his honour. Billy Watson and Shanks were great friends from the time they teamed-up at Borough Park as manager and groundsman.

It was no secret that Shanks would have liked Billy to follow him to Anfield as head groundsman, but he chose to stay in Workington and look after his mother.

Nice also on this clip to hear an old pal Eric Wallace, the late stalwart of Border Television who conducted the interviews. For a brief period Eric was pertsuaded to join the Workington board, too.
